King Lear

I finished reading King Lear for an online course that I'm taking. Its a pretty neat book, and its fascinating to see how a small thing that we do can trigger big things. A good reminder that all our actions have consequences and that we need to be responsible for all our actions. A very smart man that I know once told me and some others that you are an adult when you take responsibility for all your actions. Hmm...I know a couple "adults' who don't do that...

Very true.

What did you think of King Lear himself?

Well, he was certainly an interesting character! He didn't seem accustomed to having people not treat him as king, even if it was his own daughters. But I think that it was possibly one of the best things that could've happened to him, being forced to brave the weather and really see what it was like to be one of his own people. The problem is that this "life-changing" experience came a bit too late for him!

Awsome! Maybe we should do a colloquium on it sometime... or a Shakespeare study group?

Stephanie- I would love to do a colloquium on it sometime. You have read it too? Maybe we could convince the rest of the "scholar group" to read it or we could do it separately-maybe over phone or e-mail...
